The Industrial Automation Group (IAG) does research and education in the area of design and use of conventional and distributed control systems, manufacturing control and optimisation, industrial communication analysis and diagnostics.
People from the IAG are responsible for the activities of the Certified Competency and Training Centre (PICC and PITC), which have been accredited by PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI). We also run the local PI representative called Profibus CZ. The members of the group participate actively in working groups Topology Engineering and Discovery a IRT Engineering, which belong to CB/PG6 PROFINET IO Working Group. A significant number of up-to-now research results has focused on intelligent buildings, where we realised several projects dealing with the optimisation of energy consumed by the heating and cooling systems, which is based on predictive control. We participate at the teaching of bachelor and master courses in study programme Cybernetics and Robotics.
We strongly encourage students to envolve in our projects in the form of master and bachelor theses. Currently, there are also free positions for summer internship. All these topics as well as positions for PhD students that we offer are strongly related to industrial projects and to applications in industrial settings.
